    Description

Incredible 3 Piece Ephemera Lot from Leroy Salisbury's Chevrolet Buick Dealership that was once located at 31 Charlton Street in Ballston Spa, New York. It is where the Village DPW is today. There is one Official Dealer Invoice for a 1956 Buick dated 3/8/56 and two other pieces from 1957 featuring some of the nicest '57 Chevy Belair Letterhead that I have ever seen. The vehicles were sold to George Canaday, the owner of the East Greenbush Garage, a Rambler Nash Dealership at the time.
Starting with the pretty '57 Letterhead we have what I would call a comical if not poor excuse for a '57 Buick Invoice dated March 20 1957. At least I think it was for a '57 Buick as it does not tell you. A "Quickie Dealer-to-Dealer" Invoice for ,797 that only lists the some standard/optional equipment. It measures 9" x 6" with a perforated top portion to send the payment in with. Perhaps the centerpiece of this lot is the 8-1/2" by 11" Salisbury " New Car Stock" Buick Inventory that was given to Mr. Canaday at the time of his March,1957 purchase. The Inventory listing shows us 26 Buick Models that included several 46R Rivieras with one Convertible 46C and two Supers, Model 48 are 2 DR Sedans, Model 61 are Century Sedans, and so on. I see one Estate Wagon and two Roadmaster Models. This is a very cool sheet of paper.  The remaining piece is your typical Dealer Invoice dated March 8, 1956. It is for a new Buick 41Special Model 4 Door. Measures 9" x 8".
Salisbury was one of the more successful Buick Chevy Dealerships in the area. With humble beginnings in Ballston Spa back in 1948, the Salisbury Family literally built one of the nicest dealerships in the Northeast in what most would consider a park-like setting. They purchased an old apple orchard down in Scotia-Glenville on the corner of Route 50 and Freemans Bridge Road. It was the largest intersection in the area, 5 acres of prime real estate. I recall taking my 1979 Chevy Scottsdale Pickup Truck there to have the gas tank replaced! They built a very large dealership building complete with its own body shop facing the Route 50 side. Years later that section was leased out to an independent body shop. In 1983, The Gerrity Family purchased the Dealership from the Salisburys. It was run quite successfully up until 2009. That was when General Motors turned into "Government Motors". In my opinion the Government shut down a great operation for no good reason. It was purchased by Mohawk Honda which is what it remains today.
