Description
One set of ten 2 gauge battery cables for Club Car DS 48 volt with six eight (6x8) volt battery setup. These wires are made from premium 2 gauge welding wire. The connectors are 2 x 5/16 copper lugs with tin coating or solid copper lugs with no coating, your choice....copper lugs will be an additional $.50 cent each, with each cable requiring 2 for a total of per cable. I don't use cheap connectors on my big gauge wires! Make sure you don't get the big gauge wire with crappy little connectors like so many here on eBay do!And never buy cables that don't use heat shrink!
Each wire is made custom in my golf cart shop by me. Each one is soldered using premium silver solder connections, and then sealed with high quality heat shrink to help prevent future corrosion issues. These wires are; 1 x 38", 1 x 30", 2 x 26", 6 x 14". I do not include the two smaller gauge wires on the motor because you don't need them. Those wires are just forward/reverse signal carriers, changing them to large gauge does nothing but cost you more money!
Club Car Carts have what is called an OBC. Your main ground cable runs from the main ground post through the OBC and ends at the connection to your controller. The OBC is your "On Board Computer." It controls your charger. The charger itself is not a "smart" charger. It is simply the conduit by which power flows. The OBC tells your charger when to come on and when to turn off. It will periodically check the status of your charge when plugged in and at full charge (your cart should ALWAYS be plugged in when not in use) All that being said, in order to route that cable through the OBC you have two main options.
1) I can leave off one lug of the main ground cable. I will send a lug, prefilled with solder ready to install. After you route the cable through the OBC you would need to solder this lug on the cable. In order to solder this, you will need a small butane or MAP gas torch. Once the fitting has cooled, you would then apply the heat shrink that I would also include for you. This is relatively simple, however if you are not comfortable soldering then you should use method 2.
2) Alternatively, I can split the cable into two parts. I will also include an instruction sheet to show you how to assemble a "passthrough" stud through the OBC. Basically, you will need some allthread rod, a few nuts, washers and some rubber or nylon bushings. You will ultimately create a "post" that sticks out of the front and back of the OBC to which you will attach the split ground cables. It is not difficult to assemble this, and requires about worth of parts from a hardware store.
3) Factory form complete sent to you.
If you do not select an option, then you will receive the kit in factory form.
Many of my competitors simply sell the kit in "factory form" and you are on your own to figure out how to install it. I'm not interested in leaving you out on a limb with no support. I make myself available via email to assist you should you have questions. If you do not select on option, then it will be sent in factory form.
This kit is the last kit you'll ever need so long as you take care of it. By that I mean making sure there is no corrosion present, and if there is then cleaning it thoroughly and completely. Corrosion will over time eat the lug. As that happens, the lug will become loose. If it gets to loose, it will start to move. If it starts to move, it will arc. Ir it starts to arc, it will melt the post costing you a battery and that cable. Moral of the story? Keep your terminals clean and have no problems! The 2awg kit is the biggest anyone will ever need. Anything larger is overkill and a waste, and anything smaller is still potentially not big enough. Start with 2awg, and finish the first time.
