Description
Kronos Aluminum 7075-T6 Shimano Rear Derailleur Hanger Bolt (6 grams) - Red AnodizedUnique Design Feature:
The backside of the bolt (where the threads are) has a 5mm hex machined into it just in case you break the bolt off and need to easily extract the broken end so you can continue your ride. This bolt is designed to "break-away" when you hit a rock such as when you are on a mountain bike ride. This was done so that you don't bend the frame hanger and instead the bolt gives or "breaks" away. This is a unique and very valuable design to help save your hanger's alignment and may even save your frame. The bolt is very strong so don't worry about it breaking in the course of regular riding, it is just when you smack a rock or a tree that would otherwise have bent your derailleur hanger that it would break off.
Application: This is for the bolt that attaches the rear derailleur to the frame hanger. This is for one bolt only.
This bolt works for most Shimano rear derailleurs with the exception of 1994 XT and LX, which used a shorter version of this bolt. Works on Dura Ace 7700, 7800, 7900, XTR, Ultegra, 105 ect. The dimensions of the bolts are as follows so you can check:
Bolt Length: 33.25 mm (1.310") total length from face to back end of bolt.
Bolt Shank Length: 30.75 mm (1.210") measured from back of head to back end of bolt.
Thread: M10 X 1.0 - 6 mm long
Diameter Shank: 10 mm
Head Allen Hex Size: 6mm
Backside Allen Hex Size: 4 mm
Kronos Engineering's first began making lightweight titanium and aluminum alloy high-performance road and mountain bike products in 1987. They predated SRP, Speed Metal, TNT, and the others into this new market that really blossomed with the explosion in popularity of mountain biking in the late 1980's into the early '90's. Known for using the best aerospace materials (owner of Kronos is an aerospace engineer), Kronos' products were made as light as possible, but not so light as to cause an unacceptable increase in failures. These bolts were manufactured using top quality and strength 7075-T6 Aluminum alloy, these bolts were precision machined on Swiss screw machines, the same machines that are used for Rolex, Tag-Heuer, IWC, and many other Swiss watches, Kronos screws are the highest quality fasteners money can buy. They will never rust and will last a lifetime.
