Box has very light soiling and a bit of yellow shade to off white color from age. No rips or holes. Very, very light abrasion to some rim edges and a faint crease at narrow ends of lid (see photo) where some form of weight was on top of box. Very clean interior and excellent shape over all to box. Man's size 8 shoe box with shoe design # 48 that is a slip on generic with non skid sole for boating. I believe our box design to possibly be the 1st box used. Per research that included an interview with Steven, son ofJames Van Doren (founder of Vans), found online I acquired the following info. Van's opened in 1966 in Anaheim Calif. with the factory and store in the same building. Boxes had color designations of Blue = Mans, Orange = Boys, Red = Kids and Green = Womens. From boxes I saw online they appeared to have had Anaheim on them until the large factory opened in 1984 in Orange, Calif. I also saw an orange box that had Anaheim but instead of our box end seen in photo #5 it had a logo of a large oval with "House of Vans Custom Canvas Footwear" and a picture of scissors cutting into canvas material inside the oval. Per online info "House of Vans" was added to the store in Anaheim in the early 70's. I did see a photo of original store with out this logo but no date attached to photo. If this is correct that makes that orange box with the logo the 2nd. design. The info on shoe 48 also came from the research.
